Arabinose, also known as pectin, is often combined with other monosaccharides in the form of heterosaccharides in plant pulp, gels, hemicellulose, pectinic acid, pine and cypress tree hearts, bacterial polysaccharides, and certain glycosides. Arabinose has eight isomers, such as beta-d-arabinose, beta-l-arabinose and so on.There are two main products of arabinose industry: d-arabinose can be obtained by degrading d-glucose, which is relatively rare in nature and mainly occurs in some bacterial polysaccharides. Natural l-arabinose can be obtained from d-xylose through enzymatic isomerization by uridine diphosphate derivatives or from arabinose found in hemicellulose in corn husks.Arabinose is also known as L(+) -gum aldose, L(+) -pentose, pectin, etc. L-arabinose is a l-arabinose extracted by complex chemical and physical methods from a colloid secreted by arabinose. The natural l-arabinose rarely exists free.

Function of L-Arabinose CAS 5328-37-0

1.Inhibiting sucrose absorptionThe most representative physiological function of l-arabinose is to selectively affect the sucrase in the small intestine, thus inhibiting the absorption of sucrose. It has been reported that adding 3.5% l-arabinose to sucrose can inhibit the absorption of 60-70% sucrose and increase the blood sugar value by about 50%.

2.Control of elevated blood sugar As a low-calorie sugar, l-arabinose inhibits the increase of blood sugar caused by sucrose intake, so it can inhibit obesity and prevent and treat diseases related to hyperglycemia.

3.Prevent constipation and promote growth of bifidobacteriumConsumption of sucrose with 5% arabinose has also been shown to be effective in promoting the growth of Bifidobacterium, according to the sanhe starch experiment. Tang and tang l-arabinose are sugars that are difficult to absorb in the digestive tract and can be excreted from the urine in parts of the body that are not used.
